We're excited to announce our first collaborative workshop!
We're a network, so it's only natural to team up with another network. For this workshop are partnering with A Different Tune, a project of the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN). Check out their Facebook page to follow their amazing work .... concerts, workshops, and more.
Workshop #4 - Songwriting
![]() Ian Tamblyn and his music need little introduction to the people of West Quebec and folk music aficionados across the country. He is a prolific songwriter, composer, and recording artist. Since 1972, he has released over 44 albums/CDs of original music and written fourteen plays and over one hundred theatre soundtracks. His music is often inspired by the places he knows both near and far, whether the spring ritual of the maple harvest in the Gatineau Valley, the rocky landscapes of Lake Superior, or the still beauty of Canada’s far north and beyond.

100 Mile's mandate and mission statement specifically talk about providing training to individuals, groups and other stakeholders working in the cultural economy. Earlier this year we toured in-person workshops on touring, event planning and management, budgeting, marketing, etc. Then COVID-19 hit and we had to move online for our 3rd workshop ... on Grant Writing. (Check out our Past Workshops). |
This workshop is FREE and will be delivered via Zoom.
Saturday Nov. 7, 2 to 4:30 pm
|
The first afternoon will be more presentational. Ian will discuss approaches to the craft of song writing and provide examples. Students will then take these ideas with them into the evening and will be encouraged to develop their own song ideas.
|
Sunday, Nov. 8, 2 to 5:00 pm
|
On the second afternoon, students will bring the song writing ideas they developed the previous day and Ian will work with each student one-on-one to help them further their ideas
|
If you have never used Zoom before or never with more than just a couple or three people, please join 30 minutes before for a little practice run. It will help you and the moderator and ... Ian, of course.
Make sure your mic and camera are ready to go.
